Unable to Open any Outlook Express Attachments

I am currently running Windows XP Home w/ SP2 and ever since I have
downloaded Windows Defender (Beta2) I am unable to open any Outlook Express
6.0 Attachments. I have removed Windows Defender program but am still having
the same problems. I have looked everywhere and am unable to correct the
problem.
 
What happens when you try to open an attachment to an OE message?

OE Tools > Options > Security > Do not allow attachments... (unchecked?)

Is your anti-virus application configured to scan incoming mail?

Please try deleting the following registry key and let me know if that fixes
the problem:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\Component
Categories\{56FFCC30-D398-11D0-B2AE-00A0C908FA49}
