When I try to delete a file I get a sharing violation I'm
login as administrator have closed all Apps. and the
computer/hard disk is not shared any ideas thanks.

I have experienced this when my security on files gets corrupted. What I had
to do was keep trying to use the security to change Ownership to the
administrator. If its unsuccessful at the file level then go up and try it
on the folder but tell the folder to apply it on child objects as well. Once
I apply ownership then retry setting security on the files/folders and again
use the apply to child objects as well. This has fixed things for me in the
past.

Hi Jaime,

You may be able to resolve this issue by determining the process that has the open
handle and closing that process, before deleting the file. There are a variety of
diagnostic tools that you can use to determine what process has the open handle. For
a tool with a GUI, see Sysinternals "Process Explorer". And for a command-line tool
see Sysinternals "Handle" or Microsoft's "Open Handles".

- Process Explorer

Find out what files, registry keys and other objects processes have open, which DLLs
they have loaded, and more. This uniquely powerful utility will even show you who
owns each process.

- Handle

This handy command-line utility will show you what files are open by which processes,
and much more.

NOTES:

- The OH Tool discussed in KB172710 can be found on the Windows 2000 Professional
Resource Kit companion CD. Or you can download it as "Windows 2000 > Technical

- The gflags.exe program discussed in KB172710 is one of the Support Tools included
on the Windows 2000 CD (see Windows 2000 Help topic "To install Windows 2000 Support
Tools").
