Unable to make backup recovery disk

I have installed the windows backup program and made a backup without
problems . (XPHome)
When I get to create a recovery disk I get the following message "files for
recovery disk could not be created"
Please! what have I missed or, very possibly, done wrong? Thanks for any
help---Mel

Creating the recovery disk is part of the ASR (automated system restore)
backup. This type of backup is not functional in XP Home.
