I am using Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack II installed. After I
set a password for an account, I am unable to log on -- incorrect password,
even I type in the password correctly. If I remove the password, then I can
log on to it. Can anyone assist me on this matter. Thanks!

Previously setting was one with "(A) Computer administrator with Password
protected" and one "(B) Limited account with Password protected". Now I have
addded one more "(C) Computer administrator without password protected". I
am able to logon with (C) account but fail for (A) and (B). May I know how
to resolve this problem? Many thanks!

Finally I found the problem. It was because my Notebook suddenly turn the
NUM LOCK on when boot up. Weird. Now the actual problem is how can I switch
the NUM LOCK off during boot up or Logoff?

Check your BIOS settings, some allow you to specify the NUM LOCK
setting to be on or off at boot up.

The BIOS Numlock setting is not used by Windows (or other modern
operating systems). XP should remember the last Numlock state once set.

To set Numlock to On or Off before login, per MVP Ramesh:

HKEY_USERS\.Default\ Control Panel\Keyboard
Edit value for InitialKeyboardIndicators to 0 (set it to 2 if you WANT
Numlock to be on before login)
