I have a laptop that I am using school. (I teach there) I
upgraded from XP-Home to XP Pro in order to be able to
access and use the school netowrk.

I need to log into the domain in order to have access to
all the programs. The login screen does not offer me a
domain choice. I have tried the tweaks that set the
domain to no avail. I have tried setting
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WindowsNT\CurrentVers
ion\Winlogon DefaultDomainName = to the correct domain
name.

Neither attempted fix works.

What do I need to do in order to get the domain choice as
part of the login screen or otherwise force the machine to
be able to log into the domain?

I'm at wits end on this!

Please also respond to me at (e-mail address removed)

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

Right click "My Computer", select Properties. Go to the Network
Identification tab. This is where you can set the computer to recognize that
you belong to a domain. Also, make sure your network administrator has given
your computer and your user domain accounts. Without them, your login will
be unsuccessful.

I have the same problem but when I log on via IE. I only
get username and password. How can I achieve username,
password, and domain using IE. My computer is connected
to the network and I am able to enter username, password,
and domain when XP boots up. I checked on my W2K box and
I can achieve username, password, and domain request in IE
but not in XP. Can you help?

Thanx

Already been tried.
The computer is listed on both the primary domain
controller and the backup domain controller. I get access
to the things that the PDC has immediate control over such
as the jet-direct printers and outside access, but I don't
get access to the programs on the BDC.

Is there a method that I can use to force the login screen
to display the domain choices like win2K?

Thanks, Rick
