Hello. I have a computer with Win XP Pro, connected to a domain. I am
unable to log in using the user name or Administrator info. This is the case
whether I am logging into the domain or just the computer only. I am able to
go to any other computer on this domain and log in just fine with the same
user name/password or Administrator/password. I have no idea why it isn't
working just on this one particular computer. (I even tried moving the
computer to a different location to make sure it wasn't a connection issue -
it wasn't). Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks!

Tap the CapsLock key. Maybe it is on and you are entering your login
credentials in all uppercase.

Are you using the number keys at the top of the keyboard or on the right in
the number pad? If the number pad, could be your NumLock key needs to be on
(if you have numbers in your login credentials). If you are using the
top-row number keys, could be you have a stuck Shift key (so you get the
alphachars instead), so try a different keyboard, like from one of the other
computers where you say logging in works okay.

Thanks for the response. I have already checked the caps lock possibility
(no numbers are involved so NumLock isn't an issue) and I have also tried
switching out the keyboard - to no avail...

Any other thoughts?

What happens when you try? What specific error messages do you
get? What changes, if any, did you make to the computer's hardware or
software configuration immediately prior to the onset of the problem?
What specific troubleshooting steps have you already taken, and what
were the results of each?

No one can help if you don't provide at least a modicum of information.

There were absolutely no changes made to the computer prior to this problem.
The system was shut down for the evening and the problem occured when user
tried to start up the next morning. I haven't taken any troubleshooting
steps (other than switching out keyboard and moving to different location to
make sure keyboard and connection weren't the issue) because I can get no
further than the log on screen.

This is the error message:
"The system could not log you on. Make sure your User name and domain are
correct, then type your password again. Letters in password must be typed
using the correct case."

AS I mentioned previously, I am positive that we are using the correct User
name, domain and password (in the correct case) - so I do not know why I am
getting this error message.

Has anyone disalbed or deleted the computer's domain account?

Not to my knowledge. Also, I can't even log into the computer using the
local account - it just absolutely will not recognize the User name and
password (or Admin name/password) regardless of which way we try to log in.

Thanks.
