FYI: I am running ZoneAlarm, MS Antispyware, & Symantec Antivirus

When I attempt to load yahoo.com in ie6 browser it does nothing and the
browser stops functioning completely i.e. I cannot follow any of the links
on my homepage or load any sites through the address bar. Here's what I've
observed: I keep the first ie window open, then when I try to open another,
no window appears, but I see a second listing of ie on the processes tab in
task manager. (I should also mention that OE6 does not open at that point,
but it does appear in the process tab in task manager as well.) When I end
both instances of IEXPLORE.EXE, I am able to open a fresh window that
operates normally. (still no access to yahoo, of course.)

I searched google groups and found the following related post: Google Groups
: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser

http://groups.google.com/group/micr...insubject:yahoo&rnum=1&hl=en#f729a5a38ea15c6b

The post mentions web accelerator software, which we have. Do you think this
could be the problem?
Thank you,
Angus

I am running AT&T Worldnet Accelerator. I also sent my posting to a
newsgroup at worldnet. I was advised to clear cache in ie and in the
accelerator, but that didn't solve the problem. I also have spywareInfo on
the case.

Hi Angus :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> Uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

If you have a toolbar or program running that blocks pop-up windows, such as
Yahoo Companion, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, etc., disable them, Yahoo
Companion is known to cause various problems and should be uninstalled.

Also, try adding that site to your IE Trusted Zone.

and....

Go to Start>Run
Type this command in the window and hit enter
REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL.
You should see a message that it registered successfully
Click Ok and then reboot.

I tried everything you suggested, and the problem remains.
I am waiting for a reply from a spyware forum. Hopefully they will be able
to help me figure this out.

Thank you
