unable to key continously in box

I am unable to key in information in box except one
letter at a time. I need to click outside the box after
every single letter in order to enter the next letter.
Even in the subject heading of this mail, I had to do
this, although typing in the message box was OK. Typing
into the web page url address is also OK. It's just the
entries into the box eg credit card number or destination
(when booking travel air tickets). I have tried many web
pages of different airlines, buying products from
different vendors; they are all the same. Has anyone come
across this problem and can advise? Thanks.

This is possibly being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)
