I have just hooked my client's computer, which is running
Windows 2000, to a DSL connection as well as a local loop.
When I try to join the domain in the loop, I get a message
saying that the PC cannot find the domain. I can ping to
the gateway and the server that is the domain controller.
If I get on another machine on the network, I cannot ping
the my client's computer. The internet part works fine.
The ISP that provides the internet and local loop says
everything is fine on their end. What could be set on the
PC itself that would prevent it from joining the domain?

Does the DNS setting on the client point to the domain controller (or the
DNS server on your W2K domain)?
When joining the domain, do you enter NetBIOS name or dns name?
If you try: ping domain.com where domain.com is your W2K dns domain name
(not a server, just the domain), do you get an IP address and an answer?
If you do a "tracert -d ipofclient" from the domain controller... what
response is given from the gateway?
