I tried to put a win2k sp3 client pc to join a domain
(win2k advanced server, sp4, DC, have AD, DHCP and DNS
installed), and I caanot join the domain (received the
network name cannot be found message)

I can ping the server/DC, IP address. The nslookup on DC
is working. Client PC can release/renew IP address, and
the DC can browse the client shared folders. However,
client PC cannot browse server resourses. I manupilate
the TCP/IP tags (DNS tags) on client's PC without any
success. Could someone help me? Thanks!

can you ping the DC by Name Not IP?
If not
in the Advance tab of TCP/IP Configuration go DNS TAB
and Append you domain DNS name i.e if your is
dc=dc1.Company.com append company.com under Apped these
DNS Suffixes in order

Hello,

When you navigate to the "identification changes" pane when attempting to
add the computer to the domain, select the "more" button. What shows up as
the "Primary DNS suffix of this computer" and also is the "change primary
dns suffix when member change" is that also selected?

Check that the DC is registering properly in DNS. There should be a primary
(or AD-integrated) DNS zone for your domain name and it should be set to
Allow Dynamic updates (either yes or secure updates). Also make sure that
the DC points to itself ONLY for DNS in it's TCP/IP settings on the network
card. If all these settings are correct, in DNS MMC, you should see 4
subfolders under the dns zone for your domain )_tcp, -udp, _sites and
_msdcs.

Are you only using your internal DNS server? That's important in an AD
environment.

Also, follow the other suggestions about if the records exists, etc.
