Hi,

Could someone help me with the installation of wireless LAN (usb) on HP
Pavilion with XP Home.

Same D-link product works well on other computers with Win2000, XP Pro.

Thanks

Hi Peter and DL

Thank you very much for replies.

I bought 3 D-Link DWL-G122 Wireless USB Adapters.

I plugged in the adapter first, then installed drivers. (I will unplug the
adapter, uninstall drivers, and then reinstall drivers with adapter
unplugged, then try.)

Laptop with XP Pro, and PC with Win2000 came up with configuration
(utility)screen and I specified the values. Both are working fine.

Where as this HP Pavilion with XP Home, does not even detect the network.

Waiting to hear from D-Link whether the adapter works with XP Home.

Will keep you posted if any success.

Thanks

It works on both flavours of winxp;
The instructions for installation, as posted on d-link web site are;
Install drivers from cd, after install do not restart
Shutdown PC
Plugin Adapter
Reboot PC
Carry on to Install software from cd
Use Icon in the task bar to procede with config, if you wish to use AirPlus
USB utility

Many USB devices require that you follow a specific installation procedure,
if you dont they may not work

Hi DL,

Thank you very much. I will try as you suggested.

Will inform the outcome.

When I was reinstalling the driver last night, it came up with a
'catastrophic' error. But no further info on its cause or any reference or
number. It could be one of the problems.

Best Regards
JGV
