All,
I am trying to apply Windows updates from a CD to a
machine that is NOT on a public network. I have updated
several other PCs from the same CD, so I know the files
are intact.
I am running Windows 2000 Pro SP4, on an Intel Pentium
based system with 512MB RAM.
Each time I try to apply the updates, I get the message:
"You do not have permission to update Windows 2000.
Please contact your system administrator."
Due to other application requirements, I am a member of
the Administrators Group, the Backup Operators Group and
the Users Group. So, I should have the necessary
permissions to apply this update. I have also logged in
using other Admin Group accounts and receive the same
error message.
I'm trying to apply the following updates, without
success:
Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB842526)
Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB841873)
It appears to be a local security setting but I am not
able to identify it. Can someone assist me with this?
Thanks in advance.
