I've recieved different but similar errors trying to install software from a
CD.

First application was my phone software with Activesync - I got a yellow
triangle box "Sonic DLA", Your version of DLA can read files on this disk but
you will not be able to add them. Also got a red X "Warning", The local
language and default (WWE) configuration XML file can not be found or
invalid, please contact the disc manufacturer. Finally, a yellow triangle,
"Microsoft Activesync" Error. Invalid Drive: F:\ Please Select a valid drive

Then with Turbo Tax - A red X, Invalid Drive, Error code 1327

I recently removed one external hard drive and added another. I have
checked the disk mgmt page and all looks as it should

Try using Google.com using your error messages verbatim as the search
criteria. You should find suggestions on fixing your problems.

Changes to the registry are immediate. If you make a change, close the
editor and reopen the editor, the changed data should be there. If the info
is no longer there after rebooting, then some routine is deleting the data.
However, I don't think that a blank data field would generate the 1327 error
notice but I may be wrong. Have you tried an installation since you made
the registry change?

When I Googled on the various messages you received, I found a lot of
discussion other than the KB article mentioned in your response.
