ASUS MB - P5GC-MX/1333.
XP Professional SP-2.
3+ Terabytes Hard Drive available.
3 gig RAM.
I am unable to install Realtek High Definition Audio drivers.
The install fails irrespective if I attempt to install from CD included
with motherboard or downloaded file from ASUS web site.
InstallShield starts then halts and advises Realtek High Definition
Audio driver install has failed.
InstallShield then closes.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thank you.

Have you installed KB888111 prior to installing the drivers?

Yes - I had applied that hotfix after failure to be able to install th
driver. Following download/install of KB888111 driver still fails t
install.
Could it be a problem with the drivers install program?
This problem occured after I replaced my primary SATA drive following
fiasco of an attempt to set up machine to dual-boot XP Pro & Vista eac
in their own partition on C drive. That SATA drive was replaced. Audi
drivers had been installed on previous hard drive but will not instal

System will not allow me to uninstall audio drivers through Device
Manager - Any work-around suggestions?

Really! That's interesting! see if there is an uninstall in the drivers
folder, if there is one, usually the install program creates a folder where
the sound drivers reside, or maybe the install cd has an uninstall process?
Have you talked to Realtek??
and or the motherboard manufactors??
