Unable to install programs

I am unable to install certain programs to my machine
using w2000 pro. There usually is an error saying that a
dll is missing or unidentified or there is an error in
the .exe file. Can anyone possibly offer some solutions.

Are these installs using origonal cd's?
These are 32bit apps, as apposed to older 16bit dos installs
Will they install on another sys?

If it's just a missing dll, go to www.dll-files.com
