I get the following error when I attempt to validate
genuine Windows on my Deskto PC and Tablet PC.

Your current browser cannot run the ActiveX control
required by the genuine Windows validation process.
Let's try validating a different way:

Click Validate Now to run the genuine Windows validation
application.
When prompted, click Open or Run this program from its
current location.

And is this followed by a prompt to open or run?

Can you try this using Internet Explorer?

I get that prompt with both Firefox 1.06 and IE on both my
TabletPC and my Desktop PC. RUN is greyed out so I can
only SAVE AS.

It sounds to me as though you are either locked down
morer than the default, in both browsers. or are running
as a limited user, rather than as administrator. I know
that it is possible to download Microsoft Antispyware and
pass Windows Genuine validation using Firefox--I think
the 1.06 version.

I had been using the beta quite happily I might add until
this latest release. Now I can't d/l and install it. Any
suggestions?

There are no barriers in the distribution mechanism as far as I am aware,
against downloading on a different machine and transferring the downloaded
file, via CD or USB Key, perhaps. So that's one possible route.

What about going into IE's various Options and resetting each security zone,
and the long laundry list of options to the defaults. Tools, Internet
Options, Security tab (highlight each zone and set to default) and advanced
tab--use the restore defaults setting at the bottom right?

Is there any third party Internet security software involved?
