I am wondering if someone can help me with this. I am unable to import text
files into Microsoft Access 2007. When the Get External Data - Text File
dialog box comes up and I click on the Browse button nothing happens. I don't
get any errors but I don't get to browse for the text file. Also, if I choose
Append a copy of the records to the table : the table names won't populate
for me to choose. If I try to manually input the file name and location I get
an error about access needing to close.

I am able to use the the other import options but I can't use the import
text option. I have all the updates available through Microsoft, I've tried
copacting and repairing the database. I ran a diagnostics on Access and it
came up with no errors. My 2007 office package is for Student use only and
does not include Front Page and was installed on to my computer by me. I am
not sure what else to do at this point because I've tried all I can think.
Can someone help with this?

Hi,

Is the problem specific to a particular database or all databases?

Yes it is all databases. It doesn't matter if the database is new or old. I
need to amend this to say I can't export data either same symptoms. I noticed

Hi,

Since it is all databases, reinstalling would be what I would try also.

Oh yeah that is one of the first things I did when I first noticed the
problem I thought the location I was trying to import from wasn't on the list
so I added it.

I uninstalled and reinstalled and it works now. During the uninstall process
I had a warning come up about spokes toolbar not being able to communicate
with Outlook because it was not there. I don't recall downloading a spokes
toolbar for anything and that toolbar did not come up on my list of
installed programs. But it did get uninstalled after I uninstalled Microsoft
Office. I suspect that toolbar may have been part of the issue. I hate third
party toolbars.
