I've just upgraded to Office 2003. I am trying to import a simple EXCEL file
and get an error message.

Unable to access information in the file (gives filename). Please check that
the files exists and is in the correct format.

I've tried other files that I've imported before and other databases that
have had data imported (prior to the upgrade). So I know my problem is in
the installation.

Anyone have any ideas?

Just as a test...

From Excel, save as a CSV file. Then try importing the CSV version from
Access.

I saved it as a Tab delimited file and it worked fine. I've also tried to
import Access tables and they work it is only EXCEL that doesn't work. I've
re-installed several times and it still doesn't work.

Any other ideas?

I don't know if it is related, but there was a change in how Access could
relate to Excel as a result of an issue with ... hmmm ... JAVA, I think.
Perhaps that's what's causing what you're seeing.

Have you tried using Google on the topic?
