Unable To FAX

Recently had to reinstall Windos XP due to virus - worked with Dell. Can not send fax - get error reading no dial tone. Queried modem - OK Had to reinstall Bell South DSL Don't know where else to look - any ides?
 
DSL? Do you have an analog phone line split off that you can use?
