Unable to Download

Running Win 2000 with ie6. browser.
Everything works fine (links--etc.) but am not able to download
anything. Tried reinstalling browser but same thing.
I get message " Ineternet Explorer was unable
to open this internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or
cannot be found"
Would appreciate any help I can get.

Step 1
==========
Delete the cookie and temp files In Internet Explorer:

1. Open Internet Explorer (IE) and click Tools tab.
2. Click Internet Options, and then click General tab.
3. Click Delete Cookies under Temporary Internet Files,
also click Delete files
to delete all temporary Internet files.
4. Click Settings.
5. Click View Objects and delete all objects there.
6. Click View Files and delete all files there. Close the
Window.


Step 2
===========
1. Close all instances of Internet Explorer, click Start,
and then click Control
Panel.
2. Double-click Internet Options.
3. Click the Advanced tab.
4. Under Browsing, click to clear the "Enable third-party
browser extensions
(requires restart)" check box.
5. Restart Internet Explorer.

Give an example of an URL for a web page with a link that results in the
behavior that you describe.
