Unable to download updates (v1.1.1051 but signatures show 1.0.0.0)

I downloaded the latest Windows Defender (beta 2) from MS's website (
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx ),
rebooted then tried to "check for updates". I get no erorr messages or
dialogs, the check for updates button does nothing.

MSASCui.exe = v1.1.1051
Signatures = 1.0.0.0

I am on an Windows AD network with Proxy pac files, how can I get Defender
to update?

It could be the same problem I just had.

If you are using a local WSUS Server, then Defender tries to get the
definion updates from that server only. So you have to set up the local WSUS
server to get the definion files via WSUS updates from Microsoft.
There are two additional synchronisation settings:
- Products: Windows Defender
- Classifications: Definition Updates.
