Unable to download service pack 1

I have a fairly new lap top and need the service pack 1. It will not download, though I get the message that it is missing. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with a desktop PC. I called the MS order line
(1-800-360-7561) and got it that way.

It was somewhat interesting, in that:

1. The charge for MS sending XP SP1 was $9.95

2. The charge for MS sending the critical updates CD for both XP and W98
was $0. I confirmed that the critical updates CD for XP did include SP1. I
had the MS rep I spoke with re-confirm that SP1 for XP was on the critical
updates CD.

Moral of the story: Order the critical updates CD rather than the XP SP1 CD
and save $9.95.
