Googled thiese keywords but came up blank.

Using OEM XP SP2 Home on a Compaq mid level 160 GB drives, 1 GB RAM, MSAS,
WOC and SpywareBlaster installed.

Have turned off the SWB, MSAS and attempted to reset secutity levels as
Administrator. Unable to reset any security levels for IE.

Any ideas appreciated.

Make sure you are logged on as an administrator. You can use the command net
localgroup administrators to see membership of the local administrators
group. If you used any program such as Spybot Search and Destroy, etc to
"protect" your computer try to use the application to reverse the changes.
Sometimes AdAaware SE will display after a scan registry keys that are
locking down the computer and offers to remove them so that may be worth a
try. You are more limited to easily reversing security settings on XP Home
unless you can get a copy of secedit from XP Pro in which case you can use
seceded to try and restore security settings to default defined levels which
may or may not help depending on exactly what is being restricted. ---

Hi Steve:

Thanks for this info. Unfortunately the secedit appears to truly be
designed for XP Pro only. Doug's info didn't fit the bill either.

I can't believe I'm the only XP Home user with this issue, but I haven't
found any resources to shed any light on this seemingly easy "security
setting" change. It's not like I'm try to download anything harmful, it's
iTunes and iTunes updates for crying out loud. :-)

I notice that SpywareBlaster is a "lockdown" program and maybe it has locked
your computer/IE down. I am not familiar with SpywareBlaster but check it's
settings to see if you can undo some of what it is locking down or restore
your computer to original state or maybe even uninstall it temporarily. You
might also try booting into Safe Mode to try adjustments to IE settings. If
you can manage your trusted web content zone in tools/internet
options/security try adding the website you are downloading to your trusted
web content zone and see if you can adjust security settings on the trusted
web content zone. --- Steve

Hi Steve:

Thanks again for your insight and ideas...That concept dawned on me as well
so I went to the process of elimination. I reasoned that my IE might be
involved. So I installed Firefox and still got the ambiguous "Security
Setting" msg. Then I made a restore point and un-installed SBot , AdAware,
SWB, and the WOneCare. I deactivated and shut down the MSAS. As soon as the
WOC was gone, my Firewall popped open and asked if I wanted to "continue to
Block iTunes". Darnest thing! Duh, no silly, I don't want to continue to
Block it! Viola! It was some sort of Admin/Master override setting in WOC.
Funny thing was that iTunes, while listed in IE as being on my Trusted site
list, didn't even show up on the WOC controlled Firewall.

I think this is a bug in the WOC. I'll bug it as one anyway and let them
check it out. I am seriously reconsidering the WOC. I don't want or need
that level of control over the rest of my OS, programs, or computer.

Thank you for the assistance Steve!

Sounds good. Great job troubleshooting and thanks for reporting back what
the solution was as most likely others will search for and find your post as
valuable help. --- Steve
