Hopefully, this is the correct thread for me.

Am unable to download update for Adobe Flash, java or anything else. I
cannot download microsoft updates or programs from their website. Microsoft
support office helper tried to get me to turn over my computer for her to
look at (fastsupport.com) but I was unable to download the platform to enable
it. A microsoft systems person will call me but not until next Tuesday. I can
download updates from the computer manufacturer, HP.

The computer has a XL home edition platform and I have Windows Defender and
McAfee loaded. All have been on the machine for a couple of years but the
problem wasn't noticed until the automatic updates failed when shutting down
the computer recently.
Help!

No, you are not in the correct discussion group. This is a group for .NET
programming issues (hence the "dotnet" in the group name). You should try a
discussion group for Windows XP (which I'm guessing you meant when you typed
"XL home edition...").
Here's how to find an appropriate group.

As you appear to be using a web interface, start here to find an
appropriate
group:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Windows. In Windows,
open the category for Windows XP. There, choose and appropriate group.
