hi everyone,

I am trying unsuccessfully :-( to access an online training site using
ie6 / xp sp2. the site uses popups and macromedia flashplayer 6.

I have set the site as a trusted zone, killed all security settings for
the trusted zone, also under tools, internet options, advanced,
security I have selected "Allow active content from CD's to run on my
computer" and "allow active content to run in files on my computer".

When I click on the link to start the training course, a popup window
that should contain the training course opens and then closes. I have
unticked block popups under the security tab and have set the privacy
slider to the lowest setting. I have restarted ie after making security
setting changes.

When I try this in Firefox the site works OK, the popup training course
window opens and stays open, after disabling block popups.

Antivirus installed is NAV. I have disabled NAV and still no joy.

Help!!!

TIA

Hi,
Check the settings of any third-party security, privacy, ad-blocking
programs (or toolbars) that are installed. One of them may be blocking
the new window. Google toolbar or Yahoo toolbar installed?

This sounds, specifically, like the work of Ad-aware Pro- the "Block
pop-ups" feature. It sometimes allows a window to open momentarily before
closing it.

Hope this helps,
Don
