I created a logical partition which has been mounted to a folder
location on an extended partition. However, the folder/partition has
a read-only attribute assigned to it which I cannot disable. The
operating system is Windows XP SP2. The size of the logical partition
is 150MB. I've tried both IDE and SATA drives to no avail. Any
ideas?

The read only attribute on folders is a misnomer: It is NOT read only for
the folder; you can delete, rename, whatever that folder without problems.
The read only only applies to the files within the folder.

I understand that. So how do I disable read-only for the files in
that folder?

Either select the folder and click it for Properties, click to remove the
read-only, and it should ask you if you want to include only files in that
folder or all files in all folders; I forget the wording.

Or if that;s confusing, select all the files at once, right click and choose
Properties, remove the read-only from there.
