I have a sound card that is built into my motherboard.
All drivers have been installed and are recognized in the
Device Manager. However, when ANY type of music is
attempting to play, I get an error message. This message
details that I do not have a sound card installed. The
manufacturer and the retailer in which I
bought the motherboard says it is a problem with Windows.
Thank You.

Open device mgr.,expand the sound icon, delete all.
Then close out and restart computer,xp will/does reload all on every
restart,by deleting you should clear up the problem.

What about on Win2K? I have the same problem where I am told there is
no sound device when I play something. I have a Dell c510 laptop
bought refurb with Win2K. Thanks.

There are several media and sound things under Sound but no way to
delete them - no delete button, no right click. So how do I remove
them?
