Do I understand correctly that the files you wish
to delete are saved in a folder on your hard drive?

What happens when you try to delete them and
how...exactly...are you trying to delete them?

Have you tried deleting the files after restarting
the computer in Safe mode?

Yes have tried deleting while in safe mode
when computer first start
when all background programs are disabled
from various graphics programs
while holding the ctrl key and the delete key
by right clicking
by draging to the recycle bin
by clicking the delete this file from the left plane
in windows x p
and numerous other ways
with the camera connected
with it unconnected
in card readers with and without a flash car
inserted
so far am un able to get them to delete
just the message that "cannot delete pict0005.jpg it
is being used by another person or program close any
programs that might be running and try again."
done that
have attached said picture to an e mail and sent it
to a different computer one running windows 98 se
and when saved to that hard drive same problem it
wont delete gets the same message and that
computer uses a different viewer
whiat to do what to do?

I had the exact same problem. I had nothing running and
was trying to delete an empty folder which I went to via
My Computer, right clicking and delete. Told me the folder
was in use by some other program. I tried everything I
could think of, checking the properties of the folder,
trying to delete it via other routes and always the same
message. Then I tried to delete it again the other day and
presto...it worked! Have no clue what was different.
