Unable to Delete Items from Outlook 2000

I have been importing appointments into Outlook 2000 from
Lotus Notes with no difficulty for the last several years,
but have had trouble the last week with the following
error:

! The messaging interface has returned an unknown error.
If the problem persists, please restart Outlook.

This message is returned any time I want to delete any
Outlook entry (Calendar, Contacts, you name it).

Any ideas? I tried to use Add/Remove programs to try to
uninstall and reinstall Outlook, but the Install routine
only seems to want to ADD features, not delete them.

Thanks!

How big is your .PST file?

Ah hah! Thanks for the clue. It was 18MB. I deleted it,
restarted Outlook, and then re-imported everything. That
did the trick.

The new PST file is 760KB.

What is the size limit on the PST file?

Well, actually, the size limit on a .PST file in Outlook 2000 is 2GB :-)
So you weren't anywhere near the limit. However, there was likely some
corruption in your old .PST file, so creating a new .PST fixed the problem.
In the future, you can try using the Inbox Repair Tool to fix problems in a
..PST file -- the IRT is a file called scanpst.exe and should be on your hard
drive somewhere (just do a Windows search for it, then run it).
