I have what appears to be an empty folder but it will not delete as I get the
message " cannot delete...........: the directory is not emty. "
I also have another folder where I get the message "unable to
delete.........cyclic reduntancy check"
Ishould be most grateful if anyone could help me understand the problem and
what action I can take.
Thanks

In the first case, perhaps it contains a hidden file. You can
set your Windows Explorer options to display hidden files.

Thanks for the information and a lot of useful information here. However I
seem to have an I/O device error as well. Ideally I would like to delete the
whole folder as I have the picture files dupicated and copied elsewhere. What
is the easiest way to delete the folder in its entirety. Any help would be
much appreciated as I am only a novice and can only follow step by step clear
instructions.

Thanks and I downloaded the program and tried unlocking the folder. The
message I got was that the folder was not locked but it could still help so
I tried going for the delete option but it failed as soon as it got to the
first file because of the cyclic reduntancy check. I have tried searching in
help for I/O device error and cyclic redunantancy check but they are not
listed in in help. I am using windows XP home SP2. Wonder if you have
anyother ideas please?

Failure of the CRC check means that there is a serious hardware failure on
your disk. It is replacement time.
