Hi all,
I have several very large video files on a 1394 drive that I captured from a
VHS source while doing some video editing work. I've got my final product
now, and no longer need the massive DV files that I captured. The problem
is, for whatever reason, XP won't let me delete them. It claims that
another process is using these files. Rebooting the system doesn't help,
either. I've actually had this problem once before with XP, and the only
way I was able to solve it was to boot into safe mode and delete the files
from the command prompt. But in this case, that solution won't work,
because booting into safe mode cuts me off from accessing the 1394 drive.
I have tried killing every noncritical process, and I still get the same
error. For the life of me, I cannot figure out what to do, and now I have 7
gigs of data that I will never use again, just sitting on my drive. Anybody
have any suggestions?
I've thought of taking the drive to another 1394 capable machine, but there
are none nearby, and I'm hoping to not have to deal with that. If there are
no other options, though, I suppose I'll just have to take it to a friends
who has a 1394 interface and try that.
