Colin,
I am guessing, but I am assuming you are trying to make an ERD (Emergency
Rescue Disk) and that you are using Windows 2000.
Try this:
Get you a floppy and put it your drive. Click My Computer, and RIGHT mouse
on the A:\ drive and choose "Format". Don't choose "quick format". This
takes a little longer.
NTFS is finicky about formatting with a 98 type FAT32 operating files.
Then try again using the microsoft backup program to create the ERD again.
Also W2K does not have a system restore point like XP, but you can take the
time to create full backup by going back to the backup program and choosing
a complete backup. You need to check mark the "system state" to fully backup
your registry at this time. Save it in a location on your HDD (hard drive),
where you can find it easy in case of some problem. If your C:\ drive is
your main drive that will be good enough adn easier to get to using a
command prompt, if your not a DOS person. All this is predicated on the fact
that you have plenty of room on your HDD. If you have capacity problems, you
can zip it and send that file to another computer, or if you have a Burner,
put it on a CD (don't require zipping here). Be sure and mark your ERD with
the date adn time. And also mark your CD plainly, or if you send it to
another computer take time to make a new folder, put the backup in it, and
also make yourself a ReadMe file to give yourself any notes you may not
remember later like what the heck is this even with a description of what
you did. Could be a long time before you need it.
guessing this is what you are talking about,

When I try this I get the following message in a msg box.
The operation failed, the disk file was not found or is
inaccessible.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
Thanks
Colin.
