When trying to create a custom chart, there is no add button after choosing
user defined in Excel 2003. Has anyone seen this issue. It is the same on
3 systems here that have all been done with complete installs.

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary,

You have to create the chart and customize it before you can add it as a
custom type.
To test simply create a column chart then go to the Chart Type dialog.
On the Custom Types tab select the User-defined option. The add button
should now appear.

If you still have a problem post back.

Cheers
Andy

Be sure that you have the chart selected when you look for the chart menu because I was lost on that as well, but then suddenly found it after selecting the chart.

I know of no limit on the number of custom user defined chart types you
can have, and it seems unlikely that you would reach that limit on
several computers all at once. If you are creating a chart (clicking the
Chart Wizard button), the Chart Type dialog comes up, but you cannot add
a custom chart type for a chart which is not yet created.

Select a chart, and choose Chart Type from the chart menu. Click on the
Custom Types tab, then select the User Defined option. The Add button
appears right where it always belongs.

Thank you for taking the time out to answer me, but it doesn't resolve the problem.

I created 12 different user-defined charts last week with no problem, but for some reason, when i went back to the file to create some more, the add and delete button had disappeared. i followed exactly the same procedure I had previously (as you explained).

any more thoughts?
