when i try to drag a picture from an IE window to my desktop, i get a link
instead of the picture. frequently when i do this i will not even get the
link. nothing is copied to the desktop.
if i right click and choose 'save picture as', the dialog box specifies
every picture as an untitled bitmap regardless if it is a jpeg, gif, or bmp.
it doesn't really matter what site i try to copy the image from(no, i'm not
trying to copy images from flash sites), today i am trying to save pix from
cnn & yahoo news. i have been snagging pix this way for years from these
sites using IE. Please help!!!

I recently have this problem too. Tried to save an image and all I got was
"bmp" file with "untitled" name,... no other options. Temp. files were
deleted too.

That's not the same problem.

That happens when the Temporary Internet Files are too full. In IE click
Tools | Internet Options. Click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet
files section of the General tab. On the next window place a check mark in
the box to Delete all offline content.

If that doesn't fix it, go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced and scroll
down to the Security section. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to
disk".
