Hello all,
I am experiencing a strange problem when attempting to
connect to a server via UNC or remote registry. The timout
period is excessively long (if at all) before it comes
back to tell me it is unable to connect. I have been
trying to use the tool REG.EXE to distribute a new McAfee
schedule but I am experiencing the same weird UNC problem
so I figure they are related.
The environment is special: half the farm, 100 or so
servers, are metaframes and the rest are web or
application servers. They have at least 2 interfaces on
each server (this configuration has caused us pain in the
past), both interfaces are common to all the servers, i.e.
there exists one PROD/NON-PROD interface and one SYSADMIN
interface used for remote and backups etc ... This segment
is non-routable. Remote registry is enabled on all servers.
Some of the servers have errors in the logs in relation to
connecting to the DCs. This could point to a problem in
domain authentication but we are not sure. Logging into
the boxes via RDP or ICA works like a charm.
Any input or suggestions are welcome. H-E-L-P !!!! ;-)
Thanks in advance. Reply directly to my email address.
