I have a Windows Mobile 5 application I wrote with vb.Net 2005 that connects
to a webservice and provides it with four strings which the web service
inserters into a MySQL database. This application works fine on a Windows
Mobile 5 Pocket PC. But on my new Widows Mobile 6 Pocket PC, connected to
the same wireless phone data network, I receive the message "unable to
connect to the remote server". The device is connected to the Internet
since I can browse web sites--and the connection to the web service has
worked on one or two occasions, but 95% of the time I receive the error
message.
If I, instead, connect the Mobile 6 device to the Internet via the wireless
LAN, the connection to the web service works. So what is there about
connecting via the wireless phone data connection that would be different?
