I have encountered a problem connecting to online games in
Windows XP. I am able to connect to Massive Multiplayer
games with no problems, However I am unable to connect to
games using individual servers. i.e. Half-life Mods, BF
1942, Unreal and the such. I have contacted the games
support personel with no help. I have opened all the ports
used and enabled DMZ on my router. I have no problem with
internet connection, MMO games or even connecting to
the "lobby servers" for the games. But once I attempt to
connect to the actual game server I am unable to. Any help
on this would be appreciated as it has been ongoing for
over a year.

Thanks for the lead, I tried everything they suggested
along with suggestions on the linked pages. Still have
same situation, unable to actually connect to a direct
play server.

Here's a silly idea... and it worked for my mechwarrior4 mercs game... turn
off your xp firewall program, but leave the store bought firewall program
on, or use this: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp ), i am
using the retail version, but the free version should still work, or any
other commercial firewall program.

Now follow the instructions again in setting up your port forwarding from
the manual of your router... or use these info:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/PortRoute.html#ics

Hope this helps.
