When I have a firewall setup I am unable to get into my
network.
using:
1. DSL Service to
a.Wireless Access Point Router connected to
2. my computer
a. via eathrnet cable
3. a network adapter on the other computer connected to
a. the router via eathrnet cable
4. laptop computer
a. connects via wireless router, that
connects to my computer
If I take the firewall off, then I can get into the
network
?? there is nothing protecting any of the computers from
the net...........question here
?? do I need to place a bridge that will seperate the
internet connection from the network connection
?? or what am I doing wrong Help.
Thanks
Marc

If it works when the firewall is off, then it sounds like
you just need to configure the firewall to allow traffic
to pass to/from your local subnet or the other machines
IP addresses. I can't give you a step by step guide, as
it all depends on which firewall you are using. Look at
the firewall manual/ help files or just experiment with
it. (I'm assuming you are talking about a 3rd party
firewall. If you mean XP's built in firewall, then you
can't configure it, only turn it off - it won't work on a
network - it's only intended for a direct connection from
one pc to the internet)

If you are connected to a router you don't need the firewall in XP turned on. Most routers act as a firewall anyway.
