Unable to connect to Internet Apps even though connected to a LAN

Hi,

A problem has recently occurred on my laptop where even though I am
connected to a local area network (Unsecured Network with Very Good /
Excellent Connection Strength), all my internet applications (IE, Messenger,
ITunes etc) behave as if there is no connection present (No web pages
displayed, cannot sign in to messenger etc). This only happens when I am
connected to the LAN wirelessly, it is fine when i am connected using an
ethernet cable. This problem has only started happening very recently as
previously I was connecting to Wireless LAN's with no problems. I am using XP
Home SP2 and IE 6 SP2
