Please help! Whenever I open IE to view a web page, I hear a clicking sound
and IE appears to be working to load my homepage. When I stop it from
loading, I get an "Unable to connect..." error message. I've had this
problem before, but can't remember what I did to rid my machine of whichever
"ware" or virus that has infected my machine. I've read several of the
solutions to problems that sound similar to mine, but without internet
connectivity, I can't update my Norton definitions, nor can I access any of
the sites that can remove this mess from my machine. The last time I ran a
virus/threat scan of my machine, I had 33 threats! From another machine, I
printed instructions to remove the threats and spent hours trying following
the steps to do so. But when I ran the scan again, they were all stil there!

I'm at my wits end and desperately need my internet access. Help!!!

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Frank,

I tried everything you recommended, and while all but one threat has been
removed from my computer, I still can't connect to the internet. Is there
anything else that I can do?

The threat is Adware.Iwantsearch. I also see a Bloodhound.Exploit.6,
although this isn't showing up when I do a Virus Scan. Should I boot in Saft
Mode and remove them both?
