I have had to reformat windows and am trying to re install microsoft office
student edition 2003. However when i try to access outlook i receive two
error messages:

failed to initialise cant open file extgend.dat file may not exist you may
not have permission to oopen it, or it may be open in another program. right
click foleer that contains file and click properties to check permissions for
folder, you dont have appropriate permission to perform operation.

if i ok this i get another error message which states

failed to register a vb script dll. Reinstall or run regsvr32.exe
vbscript.dll to self register. The form cache file c:/documents and
settings\owner\local settings\application date\miocrosoft\forms\frmcache.dat
is not valid. contact your administrator.

if i ok this the application closes.

Any ideas.

Hi,

You could try searching for the file 'extend.dat' and rename it
to'extend.old'. Restart the computer.
If it doesn't work, try creating a new profile and setup the email account
using the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;287072
Also, if Outlook opens up, go to Tools-> Options-> Other-> Advanced
Options->Add-in Manager and disable every Add-In.
Restart Outlook.

Check if the following steps helps you.
