Unable to configure fax

I installed the fax from Add/Remove, but when I try to send a fax it does
not do through. I clicked "Configure fax" from the Fax console drop-down
menu and I get a message that no modem is installed. I have a DSL modem that
I know works because I connect to the Internet with it, like right now. But
it doesn't appear when I click the button to search for a modem, nor does it
appear on the list. What's wrong?

A DSL modem is a digital modem and cannot be used for sending faxes (except
with an online service). You need to have an old fashioned analog modem
installed.
