Unable to close Internet Explorer Window

Deborah Mebane

When I go the internet and bring up a web page, when I
click on the X or go to file close or right click in the
tray to close the window it will ding and not close the
window.

Do you have any solutions for that. I have downloaded
all patches, fixes, latest upgrades and nothing seems to
work.

This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

Additional information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Bugs, Glitches & Stuffups: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/Darnit.htm

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

Hope this helps,
Don

Hi Debra.

I had the same issue. Annoying as hell!

As many of the posts indicated, you are probably hit by
an Adaware or a Parasite (well, not you personally, but
your PC :)

I tried few things (over a 3-day period...), and what
worked for me is:
1. Download Spybot SD (Spybot search and Destroy). Type
it on Yahoo or Google search, and you will get the link
to it. Awesome program to clean your PC from all kind of
PC-Germs.
2.Uninstall Microsoft Java, and install Sun's Java, far
superior to MS. The catch is to first download the Sun's
Jva, and then uninstall the MS Java.
Follow this link that will explain what to do

If this works for you, please share with others and good
luck
