Unable to close IE6 window

Iam running Win98SE and have done all the updates,I have
recently upgraded to IE6.With about 90% of all windows
that I open, it will not let me close the window it just
beeps at me.The only way to close it is to cntrl alt del
and end task.
I am totally stuck.

This is probably being caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite)

Work through the solutions (CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at

If not caused by malware, consider disabling (for diagnostic purposes)
legitimate programs running in the background which might be interacting
with IE- security, antivirus, ad-blockers, toolbars & other add-ons, etc.
You may have to uninstall then reinstall, or not reinstall, a program.

I am having the same problem. But, I've also noticed
that my tab key is non-functional when I'm on those web
pages that won't close. Is that true for you, also?

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.
