When I try to use the "clear passwords" button in IE6
(tools>internet options>content>autocomplete>clear
passwords)IE crashes every time.

I am using Windows ME.

Delete your <username>.pwl file. This is where 95-based Windows caches
passwords. That's why you can hit Esc to bypass the login for username
and password and still get into Windows; bypassing the login merely bars
you from accessing the .pwl file. It could be your .pwl file is
corrupted; see

Hi,
This is probably due to a damaged registry key. With IE closed, run REGEDIT
and make your way to this key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW]
Select that "IntelliForms\SPW" key and export it. (Click on Registry then
Export.) If you need to undo the deletion, you can right-click> merge that
exported reg file. Select the SPW key and delete it.

That will, of course, delete all saved passwords. Been writing them down?
