When I go File/Database properties I get "Unable to change database
properties" . This happens on all my databases. I'm logged in as the owner
of the database, with full admin persmissions. I'm using Office 2000 on
Windows XP
How do I fix this?
Thanks
Diarmuid

Hi Diarmuid,

From your descriptions, I understood that you will receive error message
"Unable to chage database properties" when you try to open File -> Database
Properties. Have I understood you? If there is anything I misunderstood,
please feel free to let me know :)

Based on my knowledge, When you are opening your database files, is it
opened as Read-Only? If so, the following documents might be helpful

"You Are Trying to Open a Read-Only Database" Message When You Open a
Database

I tried to reproduce your problem on my machine, Unforturnately, I could
not make it. Would you please be so kind as to send me a sample file, which
could reproduce it for me? (attach the mdw files if necessary)

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to let me know. We are here to be of assistance!

Hi Diarmuid,

Thanks for your prompt email and attached files!

Unfortunately, I could not reproduce it on my machine. I have send you a
pic in my returned email, which shows I could successfully open "database
properties". I think it might be machine specific and would you please have
a try on other machines?

Except this strange error message, is there any other error messages or
strange scenrio?

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions or

Hi Diarmuid,

Thanks for your updates!

Let's try the following steps to see what should we do to resolve it
1. make sure you logged as admin and then creating a new mdb files, could
you still not open database properties?

2. If you still could not access Database properties in a newly built mdb
file, there may some corruptions for Access, would you please so kind as to
make an re-install to see whether it will work?

3. If you could access Database properties in a newly built mdb file, you'd
better import all data to the new one and see whether it will work now.

4. I have sent you back the files you had sent me. As I could open its
Database properties, would you please have a check again? Checking whether
your OS have you enough authority to do so?

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. I will be glad working with
you until it resolves :)

I can change the properties when I create new databases. If I create a new
database, and import, I can change the properties. So I'll do that with any
problem dbs.

Thank you
Diarmuid
