I just sent Wojo an email regarding this issue. I just now discovered how ti
send it to all on this site.

First of all, thank you for doing what you do, help many people solve their
video editing issues.

Unfortunately, I too fall under that category. I just started using the
Windows Movie Maker to convert my VHS old family tapes into a digital format.
I have a fairly new Gateway computer with an AVerMedia AVerTV MPEG Video
Capture card. I have my VCR wired in thru my cable antenna into this tv
tuner card.

When I play the Media Center program on the computer, I am able to watch any
tv channel as well as any movie I play on the VCR.

Thru the Media Center software, I can record anything going thru that card.
I can burn it onto a DVD and so on.

However, the Media Center copies the files into the computer as a Microsoft
Recorded TV Show file. The Windows Media Player is unable to read this file.
The only way to view this file is if I burn it to a DVD format which burns
it is an MPEG file.

Since I was having this problem, I decided to use the Windows Movie Maker.
My problem now is that when capturing any video using this software, all I
get is the video without audio. The TV tuner card has the coaxle cable
hooked up directly from the VCR as well as two audio RCA jacks (white and
red). I don't understand why I am not getting any sound from this hook up.

To verify that all is working well, I switched over to the Media Center and
I get both video and audio from the TV/VCR cable. There is no problem at
this end.

One other thing, I also purchased another movie editing program called
Movie Edit Pro 11 (Magix software) and I am having the same problem with this
software. I get video and no audio.
Any pointers from you is very much appreciated,
Thank you in advance,

WMM No Audio Capture.

Some times audio goes into PC by;
-Direct to PC line-in (sound card) with a 3.5mm stereo plug
-Loop-thru TV card to PC line-in (very common method)
-TV card,

Check how your audio is connected to the PC, you may
need an audio loop-thru the TV card to the PC line-in. Thats
often a short cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug on each end.

Check Audio Recording Source is Enabled.

1 In XP OS:

Start / All programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Volume Control.

Now on Master Volume / Options / Properties / Recording
(ok) / Select Line-in (or what ever you are using) and push
slider right up to the top (maxium)

Video tutorial of how to do it is here;

How do I select the correct audio input for analogue audio recording?

2 In Your Recording Software (WMM)

WMM Video Capture Wizard, check your audio input source (line-in or what
ever you are using), etc...

3 In Your TV /Video Card Software

Check your audio source input and select recording if that option is
available.
