Unable to Browser or Connect to Network Printer Device

As of this morning, we are no longer able to browse or connect to our network printers, running on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. We can still map the network drives from our workstations, but the printers are inaccessible. The following error appears in the System Event Viewer

The browser service has failed to retrieve the backup list too many times on transport \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{091EF6E8-C7A3-41F9-92F9-9D5594A6BD16}. The backup browser is stopping.

Unfortunately, we cannot locate anything that has changed since Friday that would cause this. Please help...
 
Hi Roger,

One, recycle the printers (off and back on) so they will send a broacast out.
Two, if that doesn't work, recycle the switch they are connected to.
If the printers are on a separate switch, it could be a problem with that switch.

Unshare a printer and reshare it. See if it now comes up in the list.

You didn't give me much to go on, such as are these jet direct connections, Windows 2000
Domain, SP4, etc.
