Unable to browse to specific folders

Since upgrading from Windows NT workstation to Windows
2000 Pro, I can not browse to specific folders. The
folders I am trying to get to are not system or hidden
folders. Example names: c:\data or c:\Arc8. Why can I
browse to some folders, but not these. I can type in a unc
path name at the run prompt and get to them that way, but
that is a walkaround, not a fix. Any ideas?

What happens when you try browsing these folders? Nothing?
Do you get an error message?

Are you sure there are files in these folders?

Do you have administrator rights on the machine? Are these
folders on a drive formatted with NTFS? Check permissions.
If the drive is FAT32 you could try booting off a Win98 DOS
floppy and deleting them that way.

I open windows explorer and some folders are not displayed
at all. I can get to them only through a unc path. I do
have admin right to the pc, the drive is ntfs, and no
security is on the drive in question (ie EVERYONE = Full
Control). The folders are not shared so share permissions
are not a concern.

Do you have the same problem if you boot to Safe Mode?

Have you checked for virus/worm/trojan infections?
