unable to browse to attach file with webmail

Recently a problem has surfaced with my XP SP1 home
computer. When I go to attach a file while using a
webmail program (tried several different ones including
mail2web) when browse is selected, the system hangs up.
This was not a problem before. The webmail used at my
office does not work now as well.

Any help to correct this problem would be appreciated.
